Captain Ann Holahan
Fishing Report for November 29th, 2005
I cannot believe, we
are a few days away from
December 1st. I think we
all say, time is surely flying
by, we are already at the end
of November, and fishing has
been either really tough or good.
I also would like to extend
a Happy Holiday Season to all
of my anglers and readers. I truly
hope this is a wonderful holiday
season for you all.
The weather we have had, has been
a few cold fronts and warming back
up, and another mild cold front
on the way.
I would like to thank Todd Edwards,
and his pals Cool Hand Luke, and
Joking Justin for a great day on
the water. We tried our feat at
some bonefish, but unfortunately the
fish were pushing off on a mission
and couldn't get any to turn and
look at our baits, but we went to
a spot where some of my anglers have
encounterd Billy, the big Barracuda,
and some countless ladyfish, which
Billy likes to wet his appetite
with, and of course with jack crevelle
and snapper. As I told these guys,
he is sometimes there and sometimes
not. But, to also my surprise, Justin
was bringing in a nice ladyfish to the
boat, and wham out of know where Billy
hits the ladyfish. Justin does a new
jig, and Capt. Ann jumped back at least
3ft, out of astonishment, that he was so
close to the boat. Let me tell, Billy
is good for scaring the be-jimmines out
of you. I always say, make sure you don't
put your hands in this water, you never know
where he is. Billy is around 40lbs, and is
getting bigger everyday. But, definitely
something my boys will never forget about.
You can go to my Scrapbook and See Billy
for Yourselves, the boys got some great
pictures of him.
We then proceeded to head to the patches,
and Cool Hand, was the catcher and releaser
of the day with several snappers, porgies,
and grunts. We had a nice rounded out trip
for the day. Congrats guys and look forward
to having you back again. We did try to flyfish
a bit, but the wind was too prevelent that morning
to get out to the fish. But, we will have to try
again in Tarpon Season.
Also, would like to thank Randy and Cody Coobash,
who also came and Cody's first time fishing in the
Keys, caught and released a nice bonnethead shark,
again the winds were very prevelent when they too
came fishing. But, we did catch and release some
very nice snapper, and ladyfish, and he too, got
to experience Big Billy, although we didn't get him
this time. Cody and Randy were completely astonished
at his wisdom and size and his relentless scruninty
on our ladyfish. We then went South to try for
some Spanish Makeral, but the bite was slim, but
Cody hooked into a nice 5lb Jack Crevelle, and had
the fight on for quite a few minutes, with some great
pictures. Don't forget to send them too me guys, so
we can put it on the Scrapbook.
But, all in all, everyone had a great time and days
with fishing. Billy was the main attraction for the
few days he got his appetizers.
Thanks to you all, I really enjoyed having you all aboard,
and hope to see you all soon.
The bite has picked up, with fishing
for bonefish. Several schools are
being sighted, and the fish are being
presented on fly and live bait on
light tackle.
Bridge and Channel fishing has been
good, with catches of jack crevelle,
snapper, and some small snook in the
evening for the bite, on the outgoing tides.
Backcountry fishing has been a bit
sluggish, the waters are still very
dirty with the wind conditions we have
had in the last few weeks. But, reports
of trout, ladyfish, redfish and snook
have been reported, but is still slow.
With this approaching cold front, this
should move the fish to an even better
bite. Especially the bonefish, and backcountry
species.
Snook Season closes December 15th, but
will reopen on February 1st.
We should have a great start to some
of this Winters Fishing Action.
Flats and Backcountry fishing should pick
up immensely with spanish makerals coming
in, and nice schools on the patches for
porgies, grouper, hogfish, and snapper.
The water temperature still remains in
the low 70's, but the tides have been
good in the early morning, and late evenings
just before sunset.
Permit fishing has been fair, using small
crab, and crab flies, jigs tipped with shrimp,
and shrimp.
Flyfishing has been tough with the wind,
just making it a bit uncomfortable for anglers
trying to cast to those bonefish, but by late
morning the fish have pushed off to deeper waters.
There are many anglers here from all
over the world, challenging their skills
from fly to light tackle, which is wonderful
to see them enjoy and learn new skills.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.
You and your friends and family are
not far from the Best Saltwater Action
around!
Don't forget the Snook Season will be closing,
but you can still enjoy a great fight with
these bruisers, but please remember to catch
and release in the closed seasons.
Trout season is closed until the end of December,
but they too give a good fight on fly or light
tackle, and our ladyfish too, which we call
the poor-mans tarpon.
Remember the snapper that you catch, has limits,
so make sure you take just enough for a good
lunch and dinner, and have fun with your rods
bending on the rest.
Islamorada offers some of the
Best Saltwater Gamefishing for
anglers focused either for light
tackle, live bait or artifical
baits, or our avid fly anglers,
now is the time to be doing your
bookings and hopping on the band
wagon for some a great time and
action, for the morning bite and
evening bites.
So, don't forget to get into some
of that great Flats and Backcountry
Fishing in Everglades State Park is a great
way to spend the day fishing, lunching,
and enjoying the beauty of the wildlife.
With the Winter fishing it will be
spectacular and incredible, and rod bending.
With our fishing in the backcountry and
on the patches and reef areas which
will produce some great catches of yellowtail,
mutton snapper, porgies, hogfish, and grouper.
These fish always puts big smiles on the kids
and even us grown ups faces when the rod bends
on these great reef and patch fish, and what
a way to spend an evening for a great meal.

So, please ensure you have Sunblock, Drinks, and
Protective Clothing, to enjoy your morning Flats,
Backcountry or Offhsore Fishing.

hook up. But, let me tell you, that it is one of

in your throat, and a smile on your face, when

Fishing Report for July 27th, 2005
We have had some sweltering
heat, and can be definitive
for it has reached the Summer
climax here in the Keys.
Also, it is mini-lobster season,
and the island is covered in
divers and snorkelers trying
to bag their limits for the next
few days.
Fishing has been good here in
Islamorada. Whether your still
tangoing with the tarpon, or
trying to cha-cha those elusive
bonefish. Fishing has been
good.
Tarpon are still around, but starting
to thin out a bit. But, still catching
them around the bridges and channels.
Using live crabs, pinfish, and pilchards.
Bonefishing is great early morning,
and just before dusk, using live
bait shrimp, and small crabs, you
can even throw a bucktail, or hook-up
lure, tipped with a peice of shrimp.
I have been sighting them oceanside,
really early in the morning, and have
several nice size fish, 7lbs up to 9lbs
hitting the baits.
Backcountry fishing has been fair, with
some nice catches and releases of redfish,
trout, snapper, and ladyfish.
Shark fishing has been good with dead bait
on the bottom for bonnetheads, bullsharks,
and lemon sharks, in the Park.
Flyfishing is ideal with just a little wind,
just making it a bit uncomfortable by mid-morning
with the heat index topping the 100's.
There are many anglers here from all
over the world. We are definitely
enjoying the several catches of
bonefish, tarpon, permit, redfish,
trout, ladyfish, sharks and
snapper.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.
You and your friends and family are
not far from the Best Saltwater Action
around!
Don't forget the Snook Season has closed
as of May 1st, and is closed for the months
of June, July, and August, but reopens Sept. 1st,
but you can still fish around the bridges,
and in the backcountry for catch and release
of these power house fish, and enjoy a good
fight. But, please remember to release for
another good fight and day of fishing.

Fishing Report for June 8th, 2005
Summer Time is definitely here.
We have had some rain and cloudy
weather this past week, and the
Tarpon are here, and the bite
has been a bit cumbersome, the
evening trips seem to have a good
bite, and early morning flyfishing
has been productive.
There are many anglers here from all
over the globe, and we are definitely
catching bonefish, tarpon, permit,
and trout, redfish, grouper,
snapper.
Whether you challenge your skills on
fly or live bait or light tackle, it
is great fun to be out in the sun, and
releasing some really big fish from all
the different species.
The tarpon have been big, weights
coming in at 90lbs up to 150lbs.
What a way to start out the Spring Fishing,
it is definitely on.
You and your friends and family are
not far from the Best Saltwater Action
around!
Don't forget the Snook Season has closed
as of May 1st, and is closed for the months
of June, July, and August, but reopens Sept. 1st,
but you can still fish around the bridges,
and in the backcountry for catch and release
of these power house fish, and enjoy a good

Islamorada offers some of the
Best Saltwater Gamefishing for
anglers focused either for light
tackle, live bait or artifical
baits, or our avid fly anglers,
now is the time to be doing your
bookings and hopping on the band
wagon for some a great time and
action, for the morning bite and
evening bites.
I would like to thank Jim Corson and
Granville Grant fishing with me, we
fished for some bones, but the weather
was not productive for visibility for
sigtcasting that morning, so we decided
to go for some ladyfish, snapper, and
low and behold, we met Billy, a big
barracuda that lingers around my boat,
and we hook up Billy, who is a 40lb
barracuda, and gave Granville a terrific
fight, after a 25 minute fight on 8lb test,
he finally broke off. But, we did have
a great test of fortitude and wits to
bring him in. He is released for another
day of fighting.
Also, like to thank Mike who fished with
all his brother-in-laws, and of course,
his brother-in-laws, Brian and Ken, we
started out our fishing excursion for
those Giant Silver Kings, and Brian had
one on, unfortunately, we lost a big fish,
that does happen from time to time. When
you leave slack in the line, the fish spit
the hook. But, we ventured out again, on
a morning trip, and the morning was a bit
slow, tarpon were sluggish, and again, we
prevailed on the evening trip, losing one
tarpon, and nailing a big 110lber. Mike was
fighting pound for pound with this big fish,
and he gave a spectacular jump on the hook
up, and proved to be a powerful and not
giving up this fish to be boated, he fought him
for a good 35 minutes, and as we were ready
to boat him, he spit the hook, again, not to
be repetative, time and time again, I can tell
you this happens right next to the boat, just
as your ready to grab the fish you worked so
hard for, the fish spits the hook right
at you. But, Mike, prevailed and did a great
job in fighting that huge tarpon.
Also, want to thank the Denmarks who too
came to test their skills with the Giant
Silver King, but they too, not being
experienced with those big tarpon, had
a few fish on, but didn't get the hook up
fast enough, but we did enjoy the powerful
jumps, and respect these fish put on our
anglers. We will try again, next season,
guys! You did well for your first try.
I also would like to thank the Greenman's
who too came to bonefish and tarpon fish.
Rebecca caught and released her first
tarpon, which was about 70lbs, and her first
bonefish which we caught and released which
was 7lbs. All on live bait, and her husband
Dave was excited and relieved that his wife
had to do all the hard work, it goes to
show you, woman and wives can prevail at
this sport, just as well as their husbands.
I am sure Rebecca will not let Dave forget
that experience. We will see you this fall
for more bonefish!
All Anglers and Guides focus on the
Season, it is of course the Best
Fishing for the Best, and biggest
species again whether your stalking
the Giant Silver King, or Elusive
Bonefish, or the Powerful Permit, or
you want to try for the beatiful backcountry
species of redfish, trout, snook, ladyfish,
jack crevelle, sharks, tarpon, or snapper.
With the temperatures getting to the
Upper 80's with some light winds, and the
heat index being very hot, the fish have
been pushing off to the cooler waters late
morning, and coming back into feed just
before the sunset, these are the best times
to work the tides and fish.
Everglades National Park where the fishing
in the backcountry has been busy, with
plenty of catchs and releases
of redfish, seatrout, and snappers,
jack crevelle, ladyfish, shark.
So, don't forget to get into some
of that great Backcountry Fishing,
in Everglades State Park is a great
way to spend the day fishing, lunching,
and enjoying the beauty of the wildlife.
Bonefishing has been fair, with this
warmer weather, we have good morning
tides and late afternoon tides to stalk
quite a bit more for those gray ghosts,
especially looking for muds, and fishing
the edges in the deeper water to find them.
We are still using live bait shrimp
and crabs, and jigs tipped with shrimp,
to allure these challenging species, and
is a great way to spend a half day or
3/4 day or full day on the waters.
On our Flyfisherman, and Women, we are still
Using Crazy Charlies, Crab Flies, Klauser Minnow
Flies, and Gotcha Flies with a chartruesse green,
and pink and tan fly with a bit of crystal flash
has turned on some of the bonefish.
The Spring and Summer fishing will be spectacular and
incredible, with fishing on the patches and reef areas
will produce some great catches of yellowtail,
mutton snapper, porgies, hogfish, and grouper.
These fish always puts big smiles on the kids
and even us grown ups faces when the rod bends
on these great reef and patch fish, and what
a way to spend an evening for a great meal.
Don't forget I still offer those incredibly
great Value Fishing Packages where you can get the
best of both Worlds for Flats and Backcountry and
including Offshore fishing charters.
So, take a look on the homepage at www.boneranger.com,
and schroll to the Islamorada Fishing and Rates

Bridge fishing has been good on the bite for the
tarpon, snook, snappers, jack crevelle, and some
bonefish. Using light tackle with pinfish, pilchards,
live bait mullet and live bait shrimp tipped on a
jig works wonders, and on 3/0 hooks with a 1/8 to 1/4oz
egg sinker, will hook you up.
This pattern shoud stay for awhile, and if this
pattern stays here in the Keys, the Keys
fishing will only get better and better. Fishing
in the early morning hours, and in the evenings to
get the fish to eat.
Don't forget your extra supplies to bring on
your trip, please Make Sure You Bring Extra Water and
Gatorade or Powerade with you to keep your
body rehydrated, and your Elecrolites going,
with this intense heat, and the heat index,
can dehydrate you quickly with the water acting
as a mirror, and sun beating down on our anglers.
So, please ensure you have Sunblock, Drinks, and
Protective Clothing, to enjoy your morning Flats,
Backcountry or Offhsore Fishing.

Fishing Report for March 7th, 2005
Well its already Season, with
anglers every where, and the
Spring Fishing is on.
We are not far from around the corner,
for the best Saltwater Gamefishing
Season, is what we all focus on, it is the
Fishing, Tarpon, Bonefish, and
Permit, and with some Great Backcountry
Action too.
We have a brief cool spot, and
we are already warming up, the winds
have laid down for a bit, and with
the temperatures getting to the upper
70's with some light winds, and the
fishing has been fantastic, for fly
and light tackle anglers.
Backcountry fishing has been Great
with plenty of catchs and releases
of redfish, big seatrout, snappers,
jack crevelle, ladyfish, sharks, and snook.
Snook Season reopened February 1st,
so, don't forget to get into some
of that great Backcountry Fishing,
the Everglades State Park is a great
way to spend the day fishing, lunching,
and enjoying the beauty of the wildlife.
Bonefishing has been fair, with this
warmer weather, we have good morning
tides and late afternoon tides to stalk
quite a bit more for those gray ghosts,
especially looking for muds, and fishing
the edges in the deeper water to find them.
We are still using live bait shrimp
and crabs, and jigs tipped with shrimp,
to allure these challenging species, and
is a great way to spend a half day or
3/4 day or full day on the waters.
We have had some wind, which makes
it hard for our fly anlgers, but it is
starting to lay down and makes it much easier for
the flyfisherman, and woman to cast to the
fish. Using Crazy Charlies and Klauser
Flies, and Gotca flies with a chartruesse green,
and pink and tan fly with a bit of crystal flash
has turned on some of the bonefish.
Late Winter fishing has been spectacular and
incredible, and fishing on the patches and reef areas
will produce some great catches of yellowtail,
mutton snapper, porgies, hogfish, and grouper.
Don't forget I am still offering the some
great Value Fishing Packages where you can get the
best of both Worlds for Flats and Backcountry
including Offshore fishing charters.
So, take a look on the homepage at www.boneranger.com,
and schroll to the Islamorada Fishing and Rates
Page and click on the top icon for Value Fishing Packages.
Bridge fishing has been good on the bite for snook,
snapper, jack crevelle. Using light tackle with
pinfish, pilchards, and live bait shrimp tipped on a
jig works wonders, and on 3/0 hooks with a 1/8 to 1/4oz
egg sinker, will hook you up.
Reef and Patch fishing has been good with
Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail, Grouper, Porgies,
and Hogfish and doing this on light tackle with
the kids puts many smiles on the boat, let
alone a great meal for all.
If this pattern here in the Keys stays
the same, the fishing will only get better
and better. Fishing in the early morning hours,
and later in the evenings to get the fish to eat.
I am looking forward to a Great Spring and
Summer Season for all my Anglers.
Don't Forget that the Evening trips for
Upcoming 2005 Season for tarpon, bonefish,
and permit are fantastic too, and a great
time to see a terrific sunset, and have a
great time on fly or live bait. Great time
of the year for those bites! Give me a call or just

Well its already Season, and with
the Spring Fishing Around the Corner,
what else to focus on is the
Fishing, Tarpoon, Bonefish, and
Permit, and with some Great Backcountry
Action too.
We are already warming up to the Upper
70's with some light winds, and the
fishing has been fantastic, for fly
and light tackle anglers.
With the weather having been like
a bit of Summer, with mornings
in the lower to mid 70's and highs
in the 80's and evenings
in the 70's, what a great way
to spend sometime on the water.
Backcountry fishing has been Great
with plenty of catchs and releases
of redfish, trout, spanish makeral,
jack crevelle, sharks, and snook.
Snnok Season repopened February 1st,
so, don't forget to get into some
of that great Backcountry Fishing,
the Everglades State Park is a great
way to spend the day fishing, lunching,
and enjoying the beauty of the wildlife.
Bonefishing has been good, with this
warmer weather, we have good morning
tides and late afternoon tides to stalk
quite a bit more for those gray ghosts,
especially looking for muds, and fishing
the edges in the deeper water to find them.
We are still using live bait shrimp
and crabs, and jigs tipped with shrimp,
to allure these challenging species, and
is a great way to spend a half day or
3/4 day or full day on the waters.
We have had some wind, but it has laid
down a bit, and makes it much easier for
the flyfisherman, and woman to cast to the
fish. Using Crazy Charlies and Klauser
Flies, and Gotca flies with a chartruesse green,
and pink and tan fly with a bit of crystal flash
has turned on some of the bonefish.
Winter fishing has been spectacular and incredible,
and fishing on the patches and reef areas
will produce some great catches of yellowtail,
mutton snapper, porgies, hogfish, and grouper.
Don't forget I am still offering the Winter
Value Fishing Packages where you can get the
best of both Worlds for Flats and Backcountry
including Offshore fishing charters.
So, take a look on the homepage at www.boneranger.com,
and schroll to the Islamorada Fishing and Rates
Page and click on the top icon for Value Fishing Packages.
Bridge fishing has been good on the bite for snook,
spanish makeral, and snappers. Using light tackle with
pinfish, pilchards, and live bait shrimp tipped on a
jig works wonders, and on 3/0 hooks with a 1/8 to 1/4oz
egg sinker, will hook you up.
Reef and Patch fishing has been great with
Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail, Grouper, Spanish
Makeral and doing this on light tackle with
the kids puts many smiles on the boat, let
alone a great meal for all.
If this pattern here in the Keys stays
the same, the fishing will only get better
and better. Fishing in the early morning hours,
and later in the evenings to get the fish to eat.
I am looking forward to a Great Spring and
Summer Season for all my Anglers.
Don't Forget that the Evening trips for
Upcoming 2005 Season for tarpon, bonefish,
and permit are fantastic too, and a great
time to see a terrific sunset, and have a
great time on fly or live bait. Great time
of the year for those bites! Give me a call or just
drop a line.
Don't forget that the Spring and Summer are
the Months are the best of times to stalk and sightcast
for bonefish, tarpon, permit, snook, redfish,
trout, and other sp
